We bought a Nissan Navara bakkie from Symonds Auto Mowbray branch from owner Greg Symonds April 2014. Carfin did our financing after we put down a deposit of R80000.00. He insisted on a 2 year mechanical warranty for which he added a R6008.77. 2 Weeks ago the bakkie’s flywheel gave in and the cost is R12231.95. We phoned Symonds Auto for warranty details which he was not able to give to us and offered to pay amount of warranty we paid for. The warranty we took with Carfin only starts [protected] as we are still under the 2 year warranty paid for with Symonds Auto. The invoice from Modern Auto had put the policy details on which only starts in 2016 but they obviously would not pay as policy is not active yet. We’ve been so inconvenienced with extra costs etc by not having the bakkie and not being able to claim from our warranty as the details were never given to us also not after several phone calls to Greg Symonds. We request he pays the full amount to Modern Auto for fixing the vehicle as the warranty would have covered this. This is fraud and concerning with how many other clients he does this by making them pay for a warranty he pockets and if something mechanical goes wrong you are not covered. He however is liable for all that goes wrong in the period of warranty and if all claim from them it would cost them so much more.
